A RS232 level convertor
A RS232 level convertor is used for communication between the Bifferboard and the PC by the serial port. It adapts the power voltages of the PC's serial port to the 3.3V voltages of the Bifferboard. A schematic of the used level convertor is shown below.
The 9 pin SUB-D connector is of the male type and a null modem cable has to be used to connect to the PC. This is because the Bifferboard also operates as a computer. Of course it's better to use a MAX3232, but the MAX232 also worked for me.
